Thread Group announced that a consortium has opened the possibility of joining of new members and began to accepting applications from companies interested in using the protocol Thread in their products. According to the president Thread Group Chris Borossa, “thousands of companies have already expressed their interest in using the protocol Thread”.
Technical documentation on the protocol will be available to member companies in November 2014, and they can start planning and development of products that are certified to Thread.
Recall that the consortium Thread Group was formed in July of this year, when seven companies together to develop Thread – new wireless mesh-IP-based protocols for use in “smart home”. The founders of the association became Nest Labs (owned by Google), Samsung Electronics, Big Ass Fans, Yale Security, Silicon Labs, Freescale Semiconductor and ARM.
