Researchers from the University of Washington have developed a unique technology for the simulation of aging persons throughout a person’s life, as input requires only one baby picture.
prediction method called “AGE change to adapt to lighting” (illumination-aware age progression). One of the children’s photography special algorithm creates 80 other pictures in which people “age” from frame to frame of one year. The person retains the original expression, lighting and position in space.
The results are truly impressive and even a little frightening. You can find many applications – from generating images of missing children (to find them in a few decades) to create a public service or application (who would not want to look at yourself through the 30 years already?).
prediction method provides a relatively accurate and truthful results. Verified it’s pretty easy. In the photo you can see a comparison of the prediction results (albeit with manually spoofed hair and environment for effect) and real pictures of the test subject:
Of course, it is impossible for one hundred percent predict future appearance, so there is a noticeable “error.” In addition, the results of manual editing nullifies honesty comparison.
Despite all this, the technology has a place to be and generated images look very interesting, especially if you look at them in the dynamics (see animation on this and this link). “By fortune do not go.”
