Today systems focus to varying degrees of perfection, each equipped with a digital camera and even the camera in some smartphones, but almost all of them work only in two dimensions.
At the same time, a new technology called AF 4D Focus, demonstrated by Sony under Photokina 2014 adds to the functionality of not only the third dimension (i.e., the depth of a scene) but also a temporary factor that enables quick focus on moving objects.
In this case, the system is able to some extent to anticipate the movement of the object to which you want to restore and maintain the focus, which means that a rapid change in its position in space for a certain period of time will not knock it confusing.
In other words, the technology 4D Focus allows us to predict exactly where the object will be in the near future a moment and accordingly adjust autofocus. This makes it possible to capture clear images regardless of the speed of movement of the object.
Thus, the technology 4D Focus promises to be useful, for example, in sequential shooting sports or animals in the wild, although it is much more interesting combination with the traditional AF system on the set of points.
It is reported that the new development is implemented in the last line of cameras Sony Alpha, for example, A77 II, A6000, A5100, which should please the potential customers.
