Performance of this card really impressed even skeptics, yet at the time it was known that 15 of the SMX-GK110 core blocks in TITAN activated only 14, leaving hope for the emergence of more productive solutions.

    Published within three months of the GeForce GTX 780 did not materialize, because, despite the higher frequency of the GPU, had another one block SMX-less. In fairness, we note that the price of this card has not been as daunting as on TITAN.

    Cooling system – efficiency and noise level

    To check the temperature of the video card ZOTAC GeForce GTX TITAN Black as load we used five test cycles very resource-intensive game Aliens vs. Predator (2010) at the highest quality graphics in the resolution 2560×1440 pixels with 16x anisotropic filtering and antialiasing MSAA-4x.

    To monitor the temperature and all other variables used MSI Afterburner software version 3.0.0 beta 19 and GPU-Z utility version 0.7.8. All tests were performed in a closed case, the configuration of which you can see in the next section, with an average room temperature of about 25 degrees Celsius.

    When automatic fan speed control cooler GPU ZOTAC GeForce GTX TITAN Black warmed up to 87 degrees Celsius, and the speed of the fans themselves already in the first cycle of the test reached 3200 rev / min.

    Almost the same results were on reference GeForce GTX TITAN and GeForce GTX 780 Ti. Consequently, the level of noise the ZOTAC same: it is moderately noisy in automatic mode and the fan is very noisy at maximum speed. In the 2D-mode video card can not be heard.

    Overclocking potential

    In tests GeForce GTX 780 Ti, we already know that the transition to the new core Kepler stepping B1 increased its overclocking potential compared stepping A1, so we were hoping to see the same thing with the GeForce GTX TITAN Black. And, as it turned out, for good reason.

    Comparison of the original video card ZOTAC GeForce GTX TITAN Black we spend with standard versions of NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN and GeForce GTX 780 Ti at the nominal frequencies.

    In addition, the testing included the fastest single-GPU graphics card on the chip AMD – MSI Radeon R9 290X Lightning on the 1080/5000 MHz frequencies, as well as the reference AMD Radeon R9 290X with a 1000/5000 MHz frequencies.

    We add that the Power Limit value on all video cards were exposed to the maximum.

    To reduce the dependence of the performance of video cards on the speed of the platform 32nm six-core processor with a multiplier 48, a reference frequency of 100 MHz and is activated, Load-Line Calibration was overclocked to 4.8 GHz when the voltage in the motherboard’s BIOS to 1.38 V.

    Graphics card performance has been verified in two resolutions: 1920×1080 and 2560×1440 pixels.

    For the tests, we used two image quality modes: Quality + AF16x – texture quality drivers default to include 16x anisotropic filtering and Quality + AF16x + MSAA 4x (8x), including 16x anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing power 4x or 8x, in cases when the average number of frames per second remained high enough for comfortable game.

    In some games, because of the specific game engines have been used other smoothing algorithms, which will be further described in the procedure and in the charts. The inclusion of anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing is done directly in the settings of the games.

    • Battlefield 4 (DirectX 11) – version 111433, all image quality settings on Ultra, dual serial passage scripted scenes from the beginning of the mission TASHGAR duration of 110 seconds;

    Performance test results and analysis
