    Test Procedure

    For the calibration and analysis of Delta E used a GUI for Argyll CMS – DispcalGUI, the latest version as of this writing. All of the above measurements are performed before and after calibration. During the tests, we measure the main monitor profiles – exhibited by default, sRGB (if available) and Adobe RGB (if available).

    Calibration is carried out in the profile of the default, except in special cases, which will be discussed further. For monitors with wide gamut we choose hardware emulation mode sRGB, if available.

    In the latter case, the colors are converted to the internal LUT of the monitor (which may have a bit of up to 14 bits per channel) and displayed on a 10-bit matrix, while the attempt to narrow the gamut to the borders of sRGB color correction OS will reduce the accuracy of the color coding.

    Before the start of all tests monitor warms up for an hour, and all of its settings are reset to factory default settings.

    Testing before calibration

    Color gamut, as expected, turned out to be advanced. He was 145.5% of the sRGB color space, and 107.8% for Adobe RGB. White point in this is not ideal.

    Color temperature was kept for level 7 300-6 700 K in dark shades and sank somewhere to 6 600 K in the transition to light. This is very good, though not a perfect result.

    But gamma curves disappointed us: for the three primary colors, they were higher than the standard on the entire range of measurements. With the curve of gray things better, it deviates from the standard not so much.

    With a measure of color in NEC MultiSync EA244UHD not so good for its price: the average deviation was 2.87 units, and the maximum – 7.14. Such indicators are normal for IPS-monitor for $ 170 – $ 350, but not good enough for the display, which costs almost $ 1500.

    Testing after calibration

    But the gamma curves of the primary colors visibly moved in to the reference curve, while the red curve is almost merged with it.

    With a measure of color Delta E, as you might expect, things went much better. Now it has dropped to an average value of 0.36 units, and the maximum – to 2.05.

    Testing in a special mode sRGB and Adobe RGB
