Today, Google has published interesting statistics on their employees. In this search engine calls the “real problem” heterogeneity of state – the majority of which consists of white men.
These statistics by gender and ethnic distribution of Google publishes for the first time. For example, 61% of all U.S. workers – white. Second place is occupied by the number of workers of Asian descent. Only 3% – Hispanic, and only 2% – skinned. Gender division even more obvious – women in Google is only 30%, while 70% – men.
According to Google, this heterogeneity – not a very good sign that there is not only inside the Google, but also extends to the whole IT-industry.
As spoken by Google, one of the main reasons for this situation is education – “only 18% of degrees in computer science in the U.S. are women.” While “only 10% of blacks and Hispanics to complete their education before graduating from universities and only 5% receive advanced degrees in computer science.”
Google and blames himself for the fact that the company did not want this moment to highlight this issue and to engage in dialogue on this topic. “Now we realize that we were wrong, and it’s time for a frank conversation about the problem. Realize the magnitude of the problem and to be perfectly honest – is an important step towards solving it. ”
It is unclear what will simple conversation. And will the corporation to take some real action to solve the “problem.” And if so, how to change the personnel policy Google.
