Apple has released specifications for HomeKit, specifically targeted for the different devices that wish to integrate them with iOS 8. Licensing will take place in the framework of the Made-For-iPhone / iPad / iPod (MFi).
Apple requires that manufacturers of devices compatible with HomeKit, be sure to take part in this program and comply with the requirements listed in the newly published specifications.
In the published document the company has included specifications for the connection, protection and data exchange via Bluetooth LE and WiFi. Protocol accessories HomeKit currently includes profiles of a particular set of products for home automation, including fans, garage doors, lamps, locks, thermostats, sockets and switches.
Some manufacturers have already announced the integration of its products with HomeKit, mainly the major manufacturers of devices for “smart home” and partners of Apple.
