As we reported last week, a report was published on the IDC smartphone market in the third quarter. According to expert estimates IDC, smartphone sales exceed 300 million units of the second quarter in a row. More precisely, in the second quarter was 301.3 million units shipped in the third – 327.6 million shares.
This week its report released by analyst firm Canalys. Interestingly, in the last quarter Canalys report named first in which smartphone shipments exceeded 300 million units.
Experts Canalys noted intensification of the struggle among producers for the third place in the smartphone market and the reduction of the total shares of the two largest participants in the market – Samsung and Apple. A year ago, the two companies held 48% of the market, in the last quarter, their share was 38%. According to analysts, this trend will continue as the market appears more and more high-quality devices offered at attractive prices in all price segments. First of all, it is the products of Chinese companies, which already owns six positions in the top ten largest manufacturers of smartphones.
The leader of the market experts called Canalys company Samsung, claiming that the South Korean manufacturer share for the year fell from 34% to 25%. Recall, according to estimates IDC, Samsung share fell from 32.5% to 23.8%.
In the second place from Apple (market share 13%), the third – Xiaomi (6%), the fourth and fifth – Lenovo and Huawei (5% each).
